And because of the consistency and abundance of these problems, we need law for Consumer protection. The government keeping this in mind passed the Consumer Protection Act.

CONSUMER PROTECTION ACT, 2019-

Consumer Protection Bill was introduced in Loksabha in 2019 and this act come in the place of Consumer Protection Act, 1986. Rights of the consumer given in this bill are: -

It provides protection against marketing goods and product which are harmful to life.

Right to information in regards to quality, quantity, purity, standard and price of goods and services.

Reimbursement against unfair Trade Practices.

Right of access to different products and services at competitive cost.

GROUNDS FOR FILING CONSUMER COMPLAINT IN INDIA-

A Consumer Complaint may be filed on the following ground:

Service Deficiency

Medical Negligence

Product Manufacturing Defect or Defective Goods

Unfair Trade Practices or Restrictive Trade Practices

WHEN CAN A CONSUMER COMPLAINT BE FILED?

If any of the grounds given satisfied in his/her case.

If the statutory period of 2 years has not lapsed from the date of cause of action.

The consumer or the complainant must have the legal capacity to file the complaint that is he/she should be sane, solvent and major.
