OVERVIEW

An important aspect of life is marriage and there are some governmental schemes in which the registration is needed to proof that the marriage is valid and legal. The marriage registration is a process mandatory for every couple who are married they are registered under Hindu Marriage Act, 1955 or under the Special Marriage Act, 1954. After registration a certificate is issued declaring that two people are married. In 2006 supreme court made the registration of marriage and getting marriage certificate mandatory to protect the women’s right.

If one of the spouses resides or is working abroad the other partner need the marriage certificate to issue the permit to reside in that country

In case of the custody of the children, maintainence or divorce the court need marriage certificate.

    Witnesses’ id proof

    Passport size photo of bride, groom and witnesses

    Wedding card and photo

    Marksheet of 10th and 12th and birth certificate

    Foreign national’s passport (if required)

    Valid VISA for foreign national (if required)

    If divorced divorce decree is required

Note – Additional document if the marriage is done in temple, churches or marriage hall.
