'The term crime against women refers to any act of gender-based violence that causes physical, sexual, or psychological harm or suffering to women, including threats of such acts, coercion, or arbitrary deprivation of liberty, whether committed in public or private life.

• Kidnapping –
Punishment for this purpose is up to seven years' imprisonment and a fine.Section 366 of the IPC defines kidnapping, abducting, or inducing a woman to marry or coerce her into having a sexual relationship, and offender can be sentenced up to 10 years in prison and fined.
• Eve Teasing –
Sec 509 of the IPC states that whoever intending to insult the modesty of any women, utters any word, makes any sound or gesture or exhibits any object which intrudes upon the privacy of such woman shall be punished with imprisonment upto 3 yrs. and fine.
• Rape
This crimes can be divided into several categories such as rape of minor girls, rape of women (Sec 376), rape involving murder (Sec 376A), rape by family members, rape by officials (Sec 376C), and gang rape (Sec 376 D), Marital Rape (Section 376 B) and the punishment for these offences range from 7 to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment and fines.
• Sexual Harassment –
According to Sec 354A of IPC if any person commits an act of sexual harassment, he shall be rigorously imprisoned upto 3yrs and fine.
• Domestic Violence –
These acts of violence include beating, rape, forced sex etc. Sec 498A of Domestic Violence Act, 2005 defines 1yr punishment and fine.
• Acid Attacks–
Sec 326A and 326B of IPC states that whoever voluntarily throws acid for grievous hurt or an assault shall be punished with imprisonment upto 7yrs to Life Imprisonment and fine.
